Spanish artist of the 20th Century, well known for his impressiv graphical works, especially his illustrations of "Carmen" (1946) and "Gargantua" (1953). Lives since 1939 in France. His works are characterized by a wealth of colour, strong light-dark contrasts and a certain grade of burlesque. After 1960 he turned to abstraction.
