The artist is one of the worldwide well known and famos artists of Naive Art in the 20th Century. Born in Bremen, son of German and French parents who lived in Estavayer (Switzerland). He studied at the art school in Munich as pupil of Olaf Gulbransson and in Berlin. Emigrated 1938 in the United States and settled down in New York (with acquisition of the American Citizenship). Worked first as a commercial artist and designer. 1965 he returned to Germany, particularly Munich. 1973 he moved to La Landelle in France and 1978 to Estavayer-le-Lac Switzerland.
Many popular works by the artist been reproduced as poster. He also worked very prosperously as graphic artist (primarily lithographs) and illustrator (children's book "What Makes an Orchestra" written and illustrated by Jan Balet, 1951). His works can be found in several museums and galleries.

A magnificent series of three fine paintings from the artists best and most creative period, while he traveled across Texas, Arizona and New Mexico, at 1961. Excellent original condition.
